We are thrilled to announce that we have received our latest turf audit reports for the Bowman Park Fields conducted by Brisbane City Council as part of the 2023/24 Sports Field Testing program.
Highlights from the Turf Audit Report, which was conducted on 3rd April 2024, include:
Improved Field Conditions: Our agronomic assessments have shown significant improvements in field conditions, including better turf composition and soil nutrition.
Enhanced Safety: Identification and resolution of field issues have made the playing surfaces safer for all members.
Optimal Soil Health: The soil profiles and amendments have been fine-tuned to promote vigorous and healthy turf growth.
Our commitment is to ensure the best possible playing conditions for all of our members and the wider Bardon community.
Samuel Irvine Casey, club president, expressed his gratitude, saying, ” A huge thank you to the dedicated volunteers in our fields team for their outstanding work in maintaining and improving our sports fields. The report highlights the huge improvements that have been made in the last decade in the overall field ratings.
“I’d like to thank those teams who have trained away from Bowman Park in order to preserve a better playing surface for all members for games.”
“We are particularly delighted in the improvements associated with the Eastern fields (or fields 2 and 5-8), this was direct feedback from our members and we’ve raised the standard.”
Facilities manager Mark Keane said that the fields are currently enjoying some additional remediation work.
“During the school holidays and the break in our playing schedule it is a good time to take the action to encourage couch growth.”
“I’m delighted about the results of the report and to see all three audit reports had 100% couch with no weed, that’s massive.”
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to excellence in community sports. Let’s keep our fields in top shape and our players safe and thriving!
